The Sumy Seminarians Made a Pilgrimage to the Holy Places of Sumy Region

On 18 of March, 2017 according to the blessing of the Rector of the Sumy Theological Seminary of Archbishop of Sumy and Akhtyrka Eulogii, the pupils of the theological school made a pilgrimage to the stavropegic monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Glinskaya desert (village Sosnovka Glukhov district, Sumy region), Nativity of the Virgin Molchanskiy monastery (Putivl, Sumy region), Nativity of the Virgin Sofronievsky monastery (the village of Novaya Sloboda Putivl district of Sumy region).

The pilgrimage was headed by the Vice-rector for Academic and Disciplinary Work Archimandrite Anthony (Bondarenko).

In the Nativity of the Virgin Glinskaya desert the students of the seminary have gathered to honor relics of the monastery: Glinsky miraculous Image of the Savior, the icon of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin "Desert-Glinskaya," the relics of St. Glinsky elders. In the brethren monastic cemetery held a Requiem litiya for all departed who lived in different times in this Holy monastery.

Students were invited to a fraternal meal.

Then the students stopped in the Glukhov and visited the Cathedral of the Three Anastasias. In the Cathedral they were met with hierodeacon Longinus, who told them the story of the Cathedral.

The next stop was the Nativity of the Virgin Molchanski monastery. The main Shrine of the monastery is Molchenskaya icon of the Mother of God.

The next stop was located in the forest hills of the Nativity Sofronievsky monastery. The main Shrine of the monastery is the list Molchenskaya icon of Mother of God. The students listened the history of the monastery and visited the caves in which lived the first monks of the monastery.

All participants of the pilgrimage left unforgettable and joyful experience.
