Sumy Seminary prayerfully celebrated New Year

On the night of December 31, 2015 to January 1, 2016 Sumy Seminary Rector with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop of Sumy and Akhtyrka Evlogii served the night Divine Liturgy. The night before, the teachers and students of the seminary prayed the New Year prayer in the Sumy Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy Cathedral. There were also served the Great Vespers and Matins polyeleos for the memory of the holy martyr Vonyphatiy, whose relics were took out of the bishop's sacristy for worship, and also the Akathist to the Korsun-Shpilevsky icon of Our Lady.

In the church of Sumy seminary at midnight began the Divine Liturgy, which was headed by Vice-rector for academic and discipline work monk Anthoniy (Bondarenko), assisted by teachers and students in the clergy. Seminarians praying for peace in Ukraine, for the blessing of a new summer, the health for seriously ill Anatoliy and the prior of Panteleimon’s church Archpriest Igor Dovgopol. Students and parishioners traditionally started the New Year with the Sacrament of Communion.

Father Antoniy congratulated the students and all the praying with the New Year, best wishes from the Rector. The celebration ended by tea party.
